Mattel Pictionary for kids is among the most popular board games for kids and it is enjoyed equally by grown-ups across the world. Apart from being an excellent means of entertainment when getting together with family or friends, this educational board game also helps in facilitating multifaceted learning for children.
Objective of the Game
The board comprises a series of boxes, forming a track. The players, divided into teams, take turns to roll the dice. The first team to reach the last box wins.
How to Play the Game
A person is chosen from the team to roll the dice and pick out a card from the deck. Depending on the box where the player lands, they pick out a card from the category specified on that box. Now, the player needs to draw the word written on the card and if the teammates guess the right word, the team scores and moves ahead. The position of the player throwing the dice keeps rotating at every round.
The drawer cannot use numbers or letters in his drawing, neither can they give hints verbally to the team members.
Learning through Play
This educational board game is quite impressive when it comes to learning for children. Apart from the obvious drawing skills, Mattel Pictionary helps in enriching their vocabulary, as they need to understand the word to be able to draw the same. It encourages lateral thinking so that they can depict the word in way that the other team members can get it right and fast. It also helps children in developing image recognition and word-play.
Time is of the Essence
While the task of drawing a word so that the others can guess it right might be quite challenging as such, the players need to accomplish it all in just one minute. As soon as the player has picked out a card and read the word, the sand timer is turned upside down and the game is on.
